Higher education can be considered the last chance of creativity and
character education which has been highlighted elementary, middle and high
school. However, despite social and collegiate necessity, the satisfaction level of
creativity and character education is quite low. In this study, we would like to
suggest a docent program as a creativity and character education.
For this, we analyzed the ASYAAF SAM Program in such a case. ASYAAF
is an art Festival for asian students and young artists where shows thousand of art
works made by 450 young artists under 30 years of age. SAM in this exhibition
means undergraduate volunteers who perform their duties as a docent or an art
dealer. The outcomes of this study are as below.
First, students have obtained some creative ideas and will of realization.
Second, reinterpreting the works and communicating with visitors stirred the
creativity. Third, They have more responsibility. Lastly, students have got
improving communicative competence.
It should be emphasized the university's own education of creativity,
increased high quality activities and set up an information network in which
students can find data easily in order to compensate these defects as above. I look
forward to reviving up the study on creativity and character education at the
university level.
