This study is also aimed not only to help the actual learning of students but to find improvements of illustrations and photographs used in the pictorials. Furthermore, this research placed its target at offering direction so that teachers con choose carious more desirable illustrations and photographs when they create actual textbooks for elementary schools As a result, this research has reached the following conclusion: First, The snalysis of the external system of the physical textbooks showed that the sixe of the textbook -4x6-under the seventh educational curriculum is larger than that under the sixth, but that the contents reduced from six areas under the sixth to 4 under the seventh, but that the number of the pages of the textbook and the number of the pictorials per page and per hour under the seventh are increased. Second, the analysis of the external side of pictorials showed that the size of the pictorial was 1/2 page, 1/3 page of 1/4page for the textbooks for third and fourth graders under the sixth curriculum, but it is a full page of 1/4 page of less under the seventh curriculum wherein various size are used , solving the monotonousness of size under the sixth. Third, The textnbooks are mostly filled with photos and pictures under both the sixth and seventh curriculums . The form of the pictorials under the sixth were mostlry square and omitting backgrounds, but those under the seventh are more diverse than under the sixth. Forth, The analysis of the contents of the pictorials in the textbooks revealed that in the case of the sixth, most of the contents were information anout activities, but in the case of the seventh, the contents are motivation, information about activities and information of the results of activities which are proportionately distributed. The analysis of the activity items by factor showed that pictorials of both textbooks about arrangement avtivities(arranging stage) under the seventh increased compared with those under the sixth. The areas of pictorials decreased from 6 under the sixth to 4 under the seventh, but the number of pictorials increased under the seventh. The number of pictorials found in health education textbooks increased greatly under the seventh compared with that under the sixth
