The purpose of the present study is to investigate efficiency of school counseling system using Contingent Valuation Method(CVM), which is one of the estimation methods for the intangible or public services. Through all over the nation, 2,229 parents were responded to open-ended question and payment card question to investigate the amount of benefits from one school counselor for one student per month. The expected economic values of one counselor covering two hundred fifty students were calculated. The results indicated approximately ten trillion eighty three billion won (10,500,000,000,000) economic benefit in minimum and twenty five trillion five hundred eighty billion won (25,580,000,000,000) economic benefit in maximum were calculated when hiring one school counselor per one school. The results also revealed that estimations of economic value of school counselor were related to the several variables such as parent's attitudes toward counseling, parent's intentions toward counseling, and perception on counseling effectiveness. Finally, the implications and limitations of the current study were discussed.
