The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of physical education teachers’ leadership
styles on elementary students' learning attitudes. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 5th
and 6th graders at an elementary school in Bucheon. Based on their responses, the teachers’
leadership styles were identified, and differences in learning attitudes according to the leadership
styles were found as follows. For the goal awareness attitude, the positive reward style as well as
the instruction and direction style were more effective than the democratic behavior style. For both
the activity participation attitude and the evaluation attitude, the positive reward style was more
effective than the democratic behavior style. In conclusion, the positive reward style had better
effects on every domain of learning attitude than the democratic behavior style.
