The national curriculum is very important document in Korea, which
holds a very strong centralized educational system, in tta it functions as
a backbone of unit local school systems. The national curriculum, in a
sense, is valued-oriented because it reflects the perspectives of the
persons on education and music, who are involved in the development of the curriculum
Korean national music curriculum consists of five parts: characteristics,
goals, contents, teaching. learning strategies, and evaluation. The purpose of this study was to investigate perspectives on music curricular and to suggest alternative curriculum, which was intended to reflect more educationally valid stands.
