최근 VST와 VSTi의 발달은 음질의 문제점을 보완하여 양질의 음악 감상 교육을 실시할 수 있게 하였다. 본 연구는 VST와 VSTi를 사용하여 초등학교 음악 감상 교육 자료를 제작하고 실제 수업에 적용할 수 있는 지도안을 구안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구를 위하여 1개의 VSTi (Editorial Orchestra)와 3개의 VST (Cubase5.0, Reverence, Maximizer)가 사용되었다. 먼저 제작을 위한 시스템을 구축하고, 악곡을 선정한 후, 노트입력과 및 조절, 믹싱 및 마스터링의 과정을 거쳐서 감상도구를 제작하였다. 다음에 이를 사용할 수 있는 4차시 분의 수업지도안을 2007 개정 음악과 교육과정에 맞추어 제시하였다. VSTi를 활용한 미디오케스트레이션의 결과물은 양질의 음질을 보여주었을 뿐 아니라, 실연 음원에서는 가능하지 않은 템포 조절, 전조, 셈여림 표현의 변화, 파트별 추출 등이 가능하여 감상 교육을 위하여 다양하게 활용될 수있는 가능성을 보여주었다.
The recent development of VST and VSTi has opened the possibilities of quality music listening education by overcoming its limitations in timbres. The purpose of this study was to produce a music listening teaching and learning tool and lesson plans for elementary music classes using VST and VSTi. For this study one VSTi (Edirol Orchestra) and three VSTs (Cubase SX 5.0, Reverence and Maximizer) were employed. After setting up the system, the researchers chose the repertoire and developed the music listening education tool through the processes of note inputting, expression controls, velocity regulations, mixing and mastering. Then four lesson plans were designed according to the Revised 7th National Music Curriculum. The resultant MIDI orchestration showed the new possibilities of music listening education not only by quality timber but by the diverse possibilities of tempo, modulation, dynamics and instrumental parts changes, which were possible in traditional audio tools.
