The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of visual culture art education based on components of visual literacy on the creativity and nonverbal intelligence of students with intellectual disabilities. 30 students were randomly selected from among 55 students with intellectual disabilities enrolled in middle school and high school course of S special school located in G - do. 15 students were assigned to experiment group and 15 students were assigned to control group. For the experiment group, the researcher conducted visual and cultural art education based on the components of visual literacy for one and two times a week for a total of 13 sessions per session for 35 minutes. As a result of this study, visual culture art education program based on the components of visual literacy appeared to be a teaching method to help students with intellectual disabilities to improve their creativity and non - verbal intelligence.
Therefore, visual culture art education program based on the components of visual literacy is an effective teaching strategy for the improvement of creativity and nonverbal intelligence of students with intellectual disabilities.
