This study aimed to suggest what is necessary to enhance the prevention culture of school
violence in a unit school by searching for the perceptions of students, teachers, and principals about
prevention culture of school violence. Also, by including elementary and middle schools, this study
examined the differences in factors that are important for the prevention of school violence culture
according to the school level. This study extracted 25%(excellent schools) and 25%(poor schools) of
the school violence prevention culture among all responding schools by using the total score of the
students’ responses. 184 elementary schools and 109 middle schools were used. Results showed that
principals perceived the importance of caring climate for school violence prevention culture. Also,
there were significant differences in students’ and teachers’ perceptions about factors(school climate
of zero-tolerant of school violence, caring school climate, supports for school violence prevention
culture, leadership) between excellent schools and poor ones. In addition, in excellent schools there
were more in zero school violence and a zero school violence councils’ meeting than in poor schools.
Whereas, excellent schools implemented more school violence prevention education than poor schools
did. Finally, in the discussion, we suggests ways to utilize the school violence prevention culture in
the unit school and provinces.
