This study was conducted to understand gambling addict s ego-state and life position in the context of TA(Transactional Analysis) and existentialism. For this purpose, 88 clients who were counseled by gambling counseling agencies in Incheon, Ulsan and Gyeonggi province were surveyed using the TACA type Egogram Checklist and OKgram Checklist. Based on the results, we analyzed gambling addict s ego state and life position. In this analysis, we applied the framework of TA and tried to understand the framework in the context of existentialism. Existentialism is the philosophy that started from metaphysics, if TA is a analysis system or psychological system theory of human behavior based on clinical psychology. The theoretical basis of TA and the existentialism are complementary. The results of the study are as follows. First, it was effective to understand gambling addicts in the context of TA and existentialism. Second, ego-state of gambling addicts showed NP as high as ordinary people, but in contrast, A was lower, FC was higher than that of ordinary people. Third, the life position of gambling addicts was shown to be I m not OK, you re OK. In this life position, the egocentrism and self-closure of gambling addicts was found to be stronger than that of ordinary people.
