The purpose of this study is to design a serious game content that focuses on intravenous (IV) injection skill, one of the most challenging core nursing skills taught among nursing students. Literature was reviewed to gain insight from relevant data, a questionnaire was administered to second to fourth year nursing students attending K University in D metropolitan city to understand their needs, and the contents of a serious game to train IV injection skill were designed in consultation with an expert in mobile games. We reviewed related literature and previous studies during the data collection stage and conducted surveys and interviews to understand the needs. During the development phase, we devised a draft and refined its technical aspect of the design and its content by receiving a professional consulting. Based on the design, the structure of the entire page and detailed scenarios of the game were developed and virtually generated in graphical form. As a result, we completed the draft of a functional game content that aims to prepare nursing students with intravenous injection skills. It is expected that the actual development and utilization of the game will allow for more effective learning while increasing the efficiency of nursing education as well.
