In this study, we investigate what the teachers and students in the book Willow recognize about classroom space and how the teaching and learning process happens there. For Mrs.Howson whose perception of classroom space has not yet been changed, classroom is a space for control and management. Its dark illumination, straight arrangement of desks, and enforced correct posture reveal how she recognize it. and that results in standardized teaching and passive learning that follows teacher s order strictly. But, after Mrs. Howson was changed by an activity of decorating the wall, the classroom has become a room for students and teachers to make together, and Teaching and Learning there student-centered and more active. Meanwhile, Willow recognizes classroom as a space for experience that he can explore the world through its window. And based on the things that he experienced, he learns actively improving imagination and creativity. Sometimes he changes Mrs.Hawson by guiding her to his new world. As mentioned above, we can see that classroom is not just a physical space but where it can have a big impact on teaching and learning, that depends on how teachers and students recognize it. Therefore, we should make an effort to accomplish a classroom of better teaching and learning place by recognizing it more meaningfully.
