본 연구는 숲에서 유아들이 직접 찾은 자연물을 활용한 수놀이가 유아의 문제해결력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 만 5세 유아 40명을 대상으로 숲에서 스스로 채집한 자연물을 활용하여 수놀이로 전개하는 실험집단의 유아 20명(남 8명, 여 12명)과 전통적인 교육과정으로 수활동을 하는 통제집단의 유아 20명(남 7명, 여 13명)을 실험 대상으로 하였다. 실험집단의 유아는 주 2회 총 10주간 20개의 수놀이를 하였으며, 문제해결력 검사 도구를 실험집단과 통제집단의 유아들에게 사전과 사후에 활용하여 집단 간의 차이를 분석하였다. 그 결과 숲에서 스스로 찾아낸 자연물을 활용하여 수놀이로 전개 한 실험집단 유아들의 문제해결력의 유사점과 차이점 알아내기, 구분 짓기, 패턴 인식하기, 측정하기의 점수에서 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 나타내었다. 이는 숲에서 비구조화 된 매체인 자연물을 스스로 찾고 활용한 수놀이가 유아의 문제해결능력에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of mathematical play using the natural objects collected in the forests on the problem solving ability of young children. For this purpose, 40 children aged 5 years were experimented. They are 20 children (8 boys and 12 girls) in the experimental group who play mathematical play using natural objects collected by themselves in the forests and control group 20 children (7 boys, 13 girls). The experimental treatment consisted of 20 activities twice a week for a total of 10 weeks. The problem solving ability test tool was used before and after the experimental treatment to analyze the differences among the groups. The subordinate contents of problem solving ability were to Identify similarities and differences, Distinguish, Pattern recognition and Measurement that`s all scores were meaningful. As a result, it showed a significant effect on the score of the problem solving ability of the experimental group children who developed using the natural objects collected in the forest. This suggests that the mathematical play using natural objects positively affects the problem solving ability of young children.
