The purpose of this study was to analyze trends of PTSD according to the demographic statistics of firefighters and to investigate whether the variables have a significant effect on predicting post - traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) of firefighters. For this purpose, 1,980 firefightersworking in the Gyeonggi area were measured for demographic variables and their relationship with PTSD symptoms. First, the rate of diagnosis of TSD) was 16.4%, which is higher than the prevalence of PTSD of 1.6% in the general public. Second, PTSD group showed significant differences according to sex, age, marital relationship, year of work, present job, and type of work compared to Non–PTSD group. The PTSD group was significantly higher in women than men. In terms of job tasks, firefighters who work in emergency service have higher PTSD group than others.. Finally, this study is meaningful in that it collects the ground data for the improvement of mental health and psychological stability of firefighters, and suggests a follow–up study for this.
