The purpose of this study is to develop and measure the validity of college student s self-assertion scale. In order to extract the preliminary items, previous studies were examined and the existing sexual assertion related scales and college student questionnaire response data were analyzed. Also the validity of content was verified. The preliminary questionnaire was selected from 326 college students in Busan and Kyungnam area. The questionnaire response data collected for the final item selection were exploratory factor analysis and reliability test. As a result, a scale of 18 items consisting of three sub-factors (unwanted sexual behavior rejection, sexual behavior perception, sexual acceptance and expression) were developed. In order to validate the developed scale, questionnaires were conducted for students attending 10 universities nationwide. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed on 564 copies of the collected data, and correlation with the sexual autonomy scale was verified for the public validity test. As a result, 18 items of 5 factors were found to be appropriate. Implications and limitations of the study and suggestions for follow-up studies were discussed.
