The purpose of this study is to investigate English learning strategies and English teaching methods for the students with visual impairment. One hundred and seven students with visual impairment and fifteen English teachers participated in the study. The findings of this study about English learning strategies and teaching method are as follows:
First, middle school students used compensation strategies more frequently than high school students. Low vision students used memory strategies more frequently than blind students. The adventitiously blind used memory strategies and cognitive strategies more frequently than the congenitally blind. The students over 30 years old used memory strategies more frequently than 10~30 years old.
Second, English teachers in the school for the blind used reading and writing instruction method more frequently than speaking and listening. Teachers used the individualized and large group instruction methods. English teachers have difficulties in using English conversation and in gaining various braille materials.
