The purpose of this study was to examine the causes of injuries are analyzed for the injured patients over the age of 65. In addition, the injury characteristic and risk factors of elder, and seek preventive measures to prevent non-intentional Injury in advance. The research methods have collected data on 451 cases of injured patients aged over 65 from three secondary hospitals in Seoul and the metropolitan area over the past year. The collected data were analyzed by a statistical package SPSS 21.0. The results of the study showed that women were 1.4 times more than men, injury type had the most fracture. Injury characteristics over 65 years of age are in women, the more older age, the more over weight, there were the most falls in the moderate ICISS, and in men, the more younger age, the more overweight, there were the most Traffic accidents in the moderate ICISS(p<0.05, p<0.001). The injury is high women over the age of 80 is 2.5 times more than 60s, overweight men 1.5 times more than normal, smokers men 25.8 times more than non-smokers, and place of occurrence of injury is business/construction area 4.5 times more than home, and it was statistically significant(p<0.05, p<0.001). The conclusion is that in order to reduce and prevent injury to the elderly, safety and preventive education is needed in various areas, including demographic, health, and injury characteristics.
