청소년기는 자신과 환경을 인식․탐색하고 보다 구체적인 진로목표의 실현을 위해 준비하는 중요한 시기이다. 장애청소년에게 있어서도 청소년기의 진로교육의 중요성은 예외가 아니다. 그러나 우리나라의 경우 장애청소년을 위한 진로교육은 이미 효과성을 입증하여 실행중인 서구 선진국들에 비해 매우 열악한 실정이다. 장애인의 재활이 장애인이 전인간적으로 회복하도록 모든 요구(needs)를 충족시키는 종합적인 접근(한국복지정책연구소, 2002)이라는 점을 고려할 때 장애청소년의 진로교육은 장애인의 사회통합과도 직결되는 매우 필수적이고 중차대한 일이라고 볼 수 있다. 이에 향후 장애청소년과 관련한 진로교육은 기존 진로교육프로그램의 재구성 및 정교화, 개개인의 진로개발을 위한 역량강화, 그리고 장애수준 및 장애유형을 고려한 도움을 줄 수 있는 시스템개발 및 전문 인력의 배치가 요구된다.
An adolescent period is the very important period, during which young people recognize and seek oneself and environment surrounding oneself. The young disabled are no exception. However, the career education for the young disabled in Korea lags behind advanced country, in which this career education have been already practiced effectively. Hereafter this career education should include the reclassification and sophistication of the career education program and the ability reinforcement for each person\'s course development. In addition, it needs the system development which the disorder\'s level and type are reflected in and the supplement of special workers.
