소이증의 발생빈도는 10,000~20,000명당 1명 정도이다. 일측성이 양측성보다 더 흔하고 남자에서 여자보다 더 흔히 발생한다. 소이증의 25~30%는 외이도 폐쇄증이 동반되고 중이 기형 등이 있어 전음성 난청과 고음역 감각신경성 난청이 합병될 수가 있다.1)3-5) 소이증 환자의 경우 연령과 외이도 폐쇄가 일측성인지 양측성인지에 따라서 보존적 처치와 수술요법을 결정하게 된다.1) 흔히, 소이증을 동반한 난청 대상자는 다른 난청자에 비해서 보청기 외형의 적합에 여러 가지 문제가 발생될 가능성이 크다. 저자들은 관련 참고자료로 소이증을 동반한 난청 대상자에게 보청기를 적합한 경험 예를 보고하고자 하였다.
Microtia was common in male for children with the frequency of one out of 10,000 to 20,000. This had potential complication to progress in conductive and sensorineural hearing loss. Hearing aid intervention showed various problematic issues just from the start of hearing aid application such as limited physical size, unusual acoustic feedback, and pains in the ear canal. In this case review, authors reported a clinical experience of hearing aid fitting with a customer with microtia to effectively manage individualized cases. Thus, related audiologists should be able to provide the concerned customers with better quality aural rehabilitation services from this individualized fitting example.
