The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the book review activities on the
writing abilities(syllables, words, sentence, words per sentence) of students with learning disabilities.
To do this, the samples were selected in two elementary schools located in Kimpo city, Kyonggi Do.
The participants of this study were tested by BASA-writing. An experimental group made up of 20
students and practiced the book review activities for 40 minutes, 3 times a week. A control group
made up of 20 students and received a traditional instruction. In the results of this study, the
experimental group had statistically a significant improvement than the control group in the number
of syllables and words. Also the experimental group had improved in the number of sentence and
the number of words per sentence than the control group. But it was not statistically significant. In
conclusion, the book review activities is one of the effective methods to improve the writing abilities
of students with learning disabilities.
