The main purpose of this study was to explore an application of case-based reasoning in the area of special education research. Case-based reasoning is the process of solving new problems based on previous experiences and difficult situations. In the special education, case-based reasoning might be useful due to the fact that the most cases of special education are considered a set of very unique and unusual situation. This study showed that a case-based reasoning method is of use in identifying disabilities and evaluating the effectiveness of instruction. Finally, implication for education and future research are discussed.
