본 연구는 특수교육연구에 있어서 사례기반추론의 적용가능성을 이론적으로 탐색한 것이다. 사례기반 추론은 인간이 새로운 문제 상황에 직면해 있을때 이전의 경험을 바탕으로 현재의 직면한 문제를 분석하여 새로운 해결책을 만들어 내는 인간의 지적 능력을 말한다. 사례기반 추론은 특수교육 상황에서 매우 중요한데, 그 이유는 특수교육분야의 사례는 대부분 정형화하기 힘든 예외적인 지식들을 다루는 독특성을 기반으로 하고 있고, 이런 조건에서는 일반적인 추론 양식인 규칙기반추론 보다는 사례기반 추론 방식이 더 적합하기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 장애진단 및 평가분야에서 사례기반추론 이론이 적용될 수 있음을 보여주고 있다. 끝으로 본연구의 교육학적 함의와 향후연구주제에 대한 제언을 제시하였다.
The main purpose of this study was to explore an application of case-based reasoning in the area of special education research. Case-based reasoning is the process of solving new problems based on previous experiences and difficult situations. In the special education, case-based reasoning might be useful due to the fact that the most cases of special education are considered a set of very unique and unusual situation. This study showed that a case-based reasoning method is of use in identifying disabilities and evaluating the effectiveness of instruction.
