본 연구의 목적은 세계화·민주주의 공고화 시대 민주시민 교육의 필수적 과제인 인권교 육의 강화방안을 제시하여 민주시민교육에 기여하는 것이다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위한 주요 연구문제는 다음과 같다. (1) 세계화·민주주의 공고화 시대 인권교육의 의의와 필요성 (2) 인권교육의 목적과 범주 (3) 인권교육의 현황과 문제점 (4) 인권교육의 강화 방안 인권교육의 개선을 위해서는 인권교육의 체계화, 내실화, 참여화가 필요하다. 또한 민주 시민교육을 통한 인권교육과 평화교육의 결합이 요구된다.
