The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of Mandala art therapy on depression and self-esteem. The main emotional state of subjects was depression while their major complaint was suspicion. During the treatment period from the middle of May to the end of August, 2008, a total of 18 sessions of art therapy which applied Mandala were held once a week, each being 60 minutes long. Psychological tests were used as study tools including the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. KFD was carried out in combination as a projective test. Also, changes in language, emotion, and behavior were observed before and after the program. The following are results of this study. Art therapy applying Mandala showed to have positive effects in reducing depression and improving self-esteem of individuals, and positive outcomes were obtained from the pre/post-tests of KFD. Language, emotions and behavior appeared to be changed positively as well.
