The purpose of this study is to investigate the requirements and contents of pre-teaching practicums,
and use the results toward the development of a systematic and definite training practice program. The
subjects consist of 284 student teachers majoring in Early Childhood in 2 or 3 year junior colleges.
According to the results, student teachers desire to have regular-based training sessions, as well as
cooperation between their colleges and training institutes prior to their teaching practicums. They also
expect support from their professors with their training.
Regarding college curriculum relating to teaching practicums, they like to learn about constructing
lesson plans and various teaching methods. In addition, they prefer the curriculum to focus on practical
issues, such as teaching demonstrations and methods through individual lessons from their professors
and class observations.
