본 연구는 유치원 교사들의 이야기를 통하여 교사들이 생각하는 교직생활의 긍정적인 측면의 특성을 살 펴봄으로써 사립유치원 교사들의 보람은 무엇인지 알아보고, 유치원 교사들의 직업유지 과정에 도움 주고 자 한 질적 연구이다. 이를 위해 사립학교 유치원 교사 면담 및 저널, 연구자 저널 등을 수집하여 분석하 였다. 연구 결과, 유치원 교사들의 전문적 역할과 기능에 대한 사회적 인식의 저조에도 불구하고 유아, 동료 교사, 학부모와의 긍정적 관계 속에서 보람을 느끼고 있었으며, 성공적 수업과 행사, 전문성 개발과 같은 직무수행에서 보람을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 유치원 교사라는 직업에 대한 만족 도를 높이고 전문직으로 거듭나기 위해서는 보다 긍정적인 마인드를 갖고자 하는 노력과 기존의 틀에서 벗 어나려는 스스로의 노력이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 예비교사 양성과정에서 유치원 교사라는 직업에 대한 긍정적인 이미지의 인식 제고가 필요하고, 현직교사에게는 유치원 교사로서의 자신을 다시 한 번 평 가해 볼 수 있는 기회제공이 무엇보다 필요하다는 것을 시사점으로 제시할 수 있었다.
This study is a qualitative research for the purpose of investigating kindergarten teachers' rewarded experiences and giving aid to them about their job maintenance process by making a survey of the characteristics of their affirmative aspects about their teaching profession through their storytelling. The data were collected by individual in-depth interviews with the teachers, teachers' journals, and researcher's journals and other documents for this aim. The findings showed that teachers had fruitful experiences in good relationships with young children, peer teachers, and parents. Also, they felt fruitful feelings when they committed their job. These findings suggest that a kindergarten teacher must correctly understand the merits and fruitful experience of his or her profession and then exert every effort to reborn as an expert by getting out of traditional frame. The investigator hopes that this study is helpful in understanding the reality of kindergarten teacher's profession, makes preservice teachers recognize positive image of their future occupation, and provide in-service teachers an opportunity to assess themselves through taking study findings into account.
