Today's cities in the world are expanding rapidly as industrializations are spreading all around the world. Since after 2008, population of the world cities has been exceeding that of rural areas, which means cities are more important and meaningfulness in missions. For the discussion of urban strategy, we first need to define generally agreed definition of "evangelization" or "reached" as "the state of being a viable native church." In addition to that, "unity" is considered to be the core factor in urban mission.
Approaches to urban mission includes perspectives of urban anthropology, and of transforming urban community structures, the community-based and homogeneous unit-based mission strategy, holistic mission which targets structural changes of the city, and mission strategy based on partnerships of churches in community, and that of community development.
With the these perspectives of urban mission, there are several preconditions to be solved for the evangelization of Busan, which includes rebuilding trustfulness of Christianity and its ministers in Korean society, recovery of the churches through their renewal, changes of the consciousness of ministers about the meaning of the Gospel and of the involvement of their churches to the society, and so on, and the mobilization of churches to holistic urban mission.
For the evangelization of Busan, unity and partnerships are urgently necessary, and methods of partnership include Top-down, bottom-up, and mixed partnership. The contents of partnership include partnership in prayer, and sharing the importance of the evangelization of Busan and churches' partnerships for it, serving community together. Concerning prayer partnership, there are many examples which accomplished urban evangelization throu호 research and prayer in Cali, Columbia, Kiambu, Kenya, Hemet, U.S.A., and Almolonga, Guatemala.
This paper contributes to suggest and combine urban mission strategy and partnerships of churches comprehensibly, and its stress on social service and involvement of churches for urban mission comparing to narrow approaches of urban evangelization itself.
