The purpose of this study is to investigate the Effects of Group Art Therapy on the Self-efficacy of low-income teenagers'. The subjects of the study were selected as 20 middle school student of low-income teenagers' who study in After School Study Class of Social Welfare Center, and they were randomly divided and assigned into an experimental group of ten and control group of ten. The program was composed of 20 times of experiments with 2 days a week and 90 minutes per experiment. To confirm the effects of group art therapy, the changes were measured through Self-Efficacy Scale tests before and after treatment and have analysed the data in SPSS statistic program with Mann whitney U test. The results of this study are such as the following.
First, it was revealed that the activities of group art therapy were effective to make ‘self-efficacy’ higher, showing significant difference between two groups.
Second, a low rank ‘self-efficacy’ was revealed that the activities of group art therapy were effective to make 'self-confidence'& 'self-control efficacy' higher, showing significant difference between two groups.But 'preference of subject difficulty' showed insignificant
difference between two groups but average score also came to be higher. the group art
therapy report about low-income teenagers', indicated that group art therapy positively
affects the changes of in several areas of life.
Third, before therapy, they didn't easilly keep company with friends, frequent fight was
happened because of being left out or wrong intention expression. During the progress oh
the art therapy, their intention expression or language expression level was improved a lot
and the increase of exchanging feelings with friends brought about lots of cooperaction or
concern for others.
Such conclusions suggest that group art therapy is effective, on the Self-efficacy of
low-income teenagers'.
