가정은 개인의 성장 발달 과정에서 최초로 접하는 ‘사회’이며, 기본적 인성이 형성되는 장이다. 가정이 인간의 초기 인성형성의 중심이 되기 때문에 초기의 가족 및 가정환경은 아동에게 많은 영향을 미친다. 이러한 과정에서 어린이는 가족이 자신을 정의하는 것에 따라 자아개념이 형성되기 시작하며, 사람과 대상과의 상호작용을 통하여 자아개념은 더욱 더 명확해진다. 자아개념은 자아, 자신, 자아지식, 자아정체, 자기이해, 자아존중감, 현상적 자아 등 여러 가지 용어로 혼동되어 분명히 개념화되지 못하고 있으나, 한 인간의 행동에 결정적인 영향을 줄 뿐 아니라 그의 성격과 정신건강과 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 밝혀지고있다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of KFD as the instrument evaluating self-concept, to analyze figure characteristics in KFD and relation of KFD to self-concept. The 367 subjects were selected from elementary schools in the city of Taegu. KFD and the scale of self-concept were employed in the study. T-test and One-way Analysis of Variance were employed to analyze data collected by instruments. The results were as follows; 1. The general level of self-concept was high. The highest subarea of the self-concept was family ego. and the lowest subarea of the self concept was personal ego. Boys were hig her than girls in the physical ego. 2. According to sexes. degree of completation of body, father\'s face, expression of self and father\'s figure, selfs foot, and size of figure variables revealed significant differences. 3. Mother\'s eye, mother\'s face, expression of mother\'s figure, mother\'s omission, size of self and father variable of KFD showed a significant difference in self-concept.
