This study is to reveal the effect of art-therapy, based on reality-therapy, to poor single-parent family(esp. fatherless family) in GyeongGi-Do by investigating the change of self-esteem, and internal controlling ability.
The research, which was started at April 14th, 2006 and finished at July 14th, 2006, consists of 16 single-sessions. Each session took 60-90 minutes, 1-2 times a week and began mainly at 7 o\'clock when the mothers could finish their works and join the meeting. The research was carried out at the conference-room in GyeongGi Community Rehabilitation Center Carrying out the research, the method, by which both parents and children could be applied, was chosen. General self-esteem tests & internal control tests were taken to investigate & analyze statistically the changes in self-esteem and responsibility & controllability on their behavior. Moreover qualitative case study was taken, based on the data(drawings & counsel) that were observed & recorded at each session.
The results of this study are followings.
First, after family art-therapy based reality-therapy was applied, the tested group shows
increase in mean score of self-esteem tests than before.(P<.01, t=-7.50, mean score(before)=2.42, mean score(after)=2.83)
Second, after \' Art Therapy based reality therapy on the self-esteem 없ld internal-control of
single-parent family\' was applied, the tested group shows increase in mean score of internal
control tests than before.(P<.01, t=-4.44, mean score(before)=7.50, mean score(after)=10.25)
This study suggest that family art-therapy based reality-therapy improve the single-parent
family members\' self-esteem & internal control.
In modern society, with various value & cultures, there are various type of family and they
have various sufferings. Especially for the single-parent family, the members of the family have
serious economic & psychological problems. Proving the psychologically positive effect of family art therapy based reality-therapy to fatherless family by this study, I look forward to
contributing to the social stability by expansive applying the therapy
