The study was designed to examine the effect of group art therapy developed for enhancing emotional intelligence and interpersonal anxiety in institutionalized children.
This study is aimed at improving Emotional Intelligence and reducing Interpersonal anxiety of institutionalized children through art activities which use self-emotion expression.
To establish, the above we studied the theoretical aspect of Emotional Intelligence and Interpersonal anxiety using art therapy. This formed the most basic part of the program.
The main framework used was the theory of child development. As a result The tasks consisted of themes and contents that used art therapy within the group.
There were 24 participants who were living in 2 sheltered accommodations in M City and also elementary school students from grades 4, 5, and 6.
10 participants use art therapy program,
The program was divided into 3parts the first, mid and last.
Each session was 60 mins and there were a total of 16 sessions.
To prove this program, we used pre-test and post-test.
The data which was already collected was analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative
methods.
Conclusion
First, the Emotional Intelligence and Interpersonal anxiety Program helped institutionalized
children improve their emotional Intelligence and reduce their Interpersonal anxiety.
Second, month after the end of the program, the effect of the program could still be observed
in the latter investigation.
Third, group art therapy appears to bring out some positive influence on the Institutionalized
Children behavior and attitude.
