The purpose of this study is to examine the efficacy of art therapy for the reinforcement of executive-function and reduction of depression on the adolescent boy with frontal lobe syndrome and family violence. The subject of this study is a third grade student of OO middle school in Y city, and has suffered from verbal and physical violence by his alcoholic father, and has witnessed the father's beating his mother. He participated in this art therapy program for 50 minutes per each session once every week from May, 2005 to February, 2010. K-WISC-Ⅲ, Kim's Frontal-Executive Neuropsychological test, PAI-A, KFD were used for the pre-and-post test of this study. The result of this study was as follows: First, the art therapy showed some effects on the change of the adolescent boy with frontal lobe syndrome and family
violence in each session. Second, after finishing the art therapy, the score of Kim's Frontal-Executive Neuropsychological test has increased from 61 to 109 of executive-function. Third, after finishing the art therapy, PAI-A's depression score has decreased from 81 to 64. Therefore, it suggests that the art therapy is effective intervention for adolescents with frontal lobe syndrome and family violence. Also, using Kim's Frontal-Executive Neuropsychological test, it suggests that there is relationship between art therapy and frontal lobe's executive function.
