head doct or s of the p sy chiat ric unit s who wer e willin g t o distribut e surv ey s
to the other t eam member s , con sequent ly 1270 profes sion als of 188 hospitals
r eceiv ed surv ey forms . F our hun dr ed twenty four surv ey forms or 34.1% of
mailed surv ey forms wer e collect ed.
Most of th e health car e profes sionals r eport ed a posit iv e view in mu sic
th er apy , alth ou gh significant differ ences ex ist ed between the profes sionals an d
age of th e subject s . T hey all believ ed mu sic therapy t o be an effect iv e
tr eatment modality , but did not view it as a profes sion in the medical field.
