21세기는 문화의 시대로, 학교교육의 문제점인 주지 교과 중심 교육의 대안 중 하나가 문화예술교육이다. 문화예술교육 활성화를 위한 문화예술교육지원법이 제정되고, 문화예술교육 분야에서 다양한 활동들이 시도되고 있지만 장애학생을 위한 문화예술교육에 대한 연구는 아직 활발하게 이루어지지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 장애학생을 위한 문화예술교육의 필요성을 문화예술교육과 장애학생을 위한 문화예술교육의 의미, 특수학교 교육과정 내에서의 문화예술교육 관련 내용과 국내의 장애학생을 위한 문화예술교육의 사례를 문헌고찰을 통해 파악하고자 하였다. 연구 결과 장애학생을 위한 문화예술교육은 현재 특수학교 교육과정 속에서 음악, 미술, 체육 등의 교과 내용으로 편성되어 있으며, 장애학생들의 정상화, 자립생활, 역량강화 및 사회통합 실현에 긍정적이고, 장애학생의 강점을 강조하고 비장애학생과의 통합의 가능성을 높여주는 유용한 교육활동으로서 그 필요성이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 향후 장애학생을 위한 문화예술교육 활성화를 위한 제언을 하였다.
The twenty-first century can be called the era of culture. Hence culture and art education is becoming more important than ever before. One of alternatives to the problems derive from cognitive subject-centered education in school is culture and arts education. Culture and arts have not been seriously considered in relation to edcation, even though they had been frequently provided as a form of educational activities in many artistic and cultural veneus. In 2005, the National Assembly passed the Culture and Arts Education Act, which supported culture and arts education in primary and secondary schools and arts organizations. And in recent years, there has been much activity in field of culture and arts education. In spite that trends of culture and arts educational need, culture and arts education for students with disabilities, has not been proceeded actively. This study aims to examine necessity of culture and arts education for students with disabilities, to investigate the actual state of culture and arts education for students with disabilities, and to propose improvement directions of culture and arts education for students with disabilities.
