The twenty-first century can be called the era of culture. Hence culture and art education is becoming more important than ever before. One of alternatives to the problems derive from cognitive subject-centered education in school is culture and arts education. Culture and arts have not been seriously considered in relation to edcation, even though they had been frequently provided as a form of educational activities in many artistic and cultural veneus. In 2005, the National Assembly passed the Culture and Arts Education Act, which supported culture and arts education in primary and secondary schools and arts organizations. And in recent years, there has been much activity in field of culture and arts education. In spite that trends of culture and arts educational need, culture and arts education for students with disabilities, has not been proceeded actively.
This study aims to examine necessity of culture and arts education for students with disabilities, to investigate the actual state of culture and arts education for students with disabilities, and to propose improvement directions of culture and arts education for students with disabilities.
