This study examined the difficulties the korean husband and korean-chinese wife couples experienced in family relationships and marital life, and suggested the consideration of working with these couples. A method of study was case study on six cases using content analysis. Categories for analysis were motivations and channels of marriage, difficulties in marital and family relationships, and marital problems. According to the results of study, the marital problems of the korean husband and korean-chinese wife couples were lack of confidence, high level of stress, isolation and lack of coping resources in wives, disagreement about roles of wife and share of household affairs, differences of consciousness owing to differences of socio-political systems, and wife abuses. The consideration of working with the korean husband and korean-chinese wife couples was as follows; 1. help couples to ease the level of tensions and anxieties by ventilations of feelings through initial phases. 2. help couples to understand transgenerational factors and the family-environment interactions by using of genogram and ecomap. 3. facilitate couples to describe the desirable marital relationship by using of family sculpture. 4. facilitate couples to get motivations of change by focusing on solution and goal rather than problems. 5. teach couples to understand marital life cycle and family life cycle by psychoeducation of family life. 6. promote the supportive family environments.
