Gergen(1999)은 사회구성주의 치료접근을 de Shazer의 해결중심적 치료, White의 이야기치료, Anderson의 다중음성 협력(polyvocal collaborations)으로 나누고 있다. 이들의 치료는 예를 들어 White의 외재화, Goolishian의 알지 못한다는 자세, Anderson의 반영 팀은 표면적으로는 각각 다른 것처럼 보이지만 현실은 사회적이며 언어적인 산물로 본다는 공통점을 가지고 있다. 그러므로 치료과정에서 White는 문제의 오염된 이야기 속에 묻혀진 독특한 성과에 주목하였으며, Goolishian은 전문지식에 근거한 전문가의 이야기에서 벗어나 지금까지 언급되지 않은 이야기를 들으려고 하였다. 한편, Anderson은 일방경 뒤에서 전문가끼리만 주고 받는 대화를 거부하고 내담자에게 들려지는 대화를 실천하였다. 다시 말하면 사회구성주의의 치료방법은 지금까지의 지배적인 이야기에서 벗어나서 새로운 이야기를 끌어내고 발전시키도록 내담자를 돕는 것이다. 즉, 현실이란 사람들이 그 문제에 대하여 어떻게 지각하고 이야기하느냐에 따라 다르게 존재하므로, 같은 상황을 다른 관점에서 보고 이야기할 수 있다면 더 이상 문제는 존재하지 않는다고 본 것이다. 이와 같은 2차 가족치료 접근은 원인제공자로서 취급되던 가족들이 죄책감이나 자신들을 방어하는데 열중하지 않고 미래지향적 사고를 추구할 수 있도록 돕는 것이다.

영문초록

This study attempts to analyze the theoretical and basal(or formational) significance of second-order family therapy. And also, in this study it\'s therapeutic efficiency shall be evaluated from a social constructionist\'s approach. To my knowledge, the first-order family therapy is directed and guided, methodologically, by the therapist\'s pre-formulated hypothesis, unlike the approach of social constructionism, which is processed by the vocal collaboration between the therapist and the client. In fact, this implies that a characteristic of social constructionism is of so called \"not-knowing posture\" at dialogue and quest which leads the client to the new meaning of individual life. The medium of the proceedings to social constructionism is the language of a life history with the client. It is interesting to note that the \"not-knowing posture\" method brings to the therapist curiosity toward his or her client, especially according to my case study.
