이 논문은 해외 거주 한민족의 문학작품을 활용하여 보훈콘텐츠를 개발하는 방안에 대해 다루었다. 이는 보훈의 가치를 현대적으로 재정비하고 홍보하는 실질적인 방안이며, 대중과 소통하려는 노력이라 할 것이다. 보훈콘텐츠 개발에 대한 본격적인 논의는 다음의 네 가지 측면에서 이루어졌다. 첫째, 역사교육을 통해서 보훈의식을 고취하는 방법이다. 특히 해외 한민족의 문학작품은 우리 쉽게 다루지 못했거나, 혹은 다루지 않았던 역사를 대상으로 한다는 점에서 더욱 큰 가치를 가진다. 둘째, 멀티미디어 기술을 도입하고 활용하는 방법이다. 이는 시대 변화에 대한 막연한 적용이 아니라, 콘텐츠의 효과적인 활용이라는 측면에서 다루어져야 할 것이다. 셋째, 정보 중심 스토리가 아니라 흥미를 유발하는 스토리텔링을 적극적으로 도입하는 방법이이다. 그동안의 보훈콘텐츠들은 대부분 단순한 정보전달의 수준에서 제작되고 유통되었다. 그러나 이러한 방식으로는 더 이상 대중의 관심과 흥미를 끌기 힘들다. 그러므로 앞으로 제작될 보훈콘텐츠는 무엇보다 스토리텔링의 보강에 힘을 기울여야 할 것이다. 넷째, 캐릭터를 구축하고 배경을 창조하는 방법이다. 개성 있는 캐릭터를 만드는 일은 콘텐츠 제작의 첫걸음이라 할 수 있다. 해외 한민족 문학작품에 제시된 인물들은 전형적인 인물 유형과는 차이가 많기 때문에, 그 활용가능성이 높다. 특히 최근의 경향은 무거운 주제를 그대로 드러내기보다는 가벼운 이야기 속에 녹여서 표현하는 경우가 많다는 점도 고려되어야 한다. 배경의 문제 또한 같은 맥락 변화가 이루어지고 있다. ‘주변인에 대한 관심’이라는 창작기법을 비롯하여, ‘퓨전 사극’과 ‘대체역사’ 등이 그것이다. 이들은 역사적 고증을 중시하는 전통적 제작 방법에서 벗어나 창작자의 상상력을 강조하는 경향을 보이고 있는데, 이를 통해서 새로운 사건과 인물을 제시할 수 있다는 점에서 가치를 가진다.
This paper observes development of the contents of patriots and veterans with applying overseas Korean literature. It should be a method to remind the value of patriots affairs and advertise it. Furthermore, this enables us to communicate the ordinary people effectively. The objective methods for the contents of veterans tell below four aspects. First, it can improve the consciousness patriotism through history education. Especially, overseas Korean literature tends to deal with the history which we have not concerned with so far. Therefore, it acquires value to develop the patriotic sentiment. Next, it should be better bring in multimedia technology and apply it. This would rather deal with contents effectively than using it blindly. The third method will introduce the story telling to evoke entertainment rather than informative story. So far, the contents of patriots and veterans have focused on information in simple way. However, such style will be hard to concentrate on the people's concern. Thus, in the future, the contents should compensate for interesting story telling. The Final method will create new character and place. Creating individual character is first step to produce contents business. The character in overseas Korean literature has a tendency to differ from an ordinary character pattern, and there is a high possibility to apply it. Recently, overseas Korean literature tends to melt down its topic in light story rather than revealing heavy theme. In addition, the place is also changed through various genre such as 'the concern of outsiders', 'fusion history drama' and 'alternative history'. The new genre focuses on creators' imagination rather than ascertainment in detail historical evidence. In this way, story is able to present interesting event and colorful character.
