This study attempted to identify the factors that are most significantly associated with the status of activities of daily living (ADL). Neuropsychological tests were administered to participants and their care-givers completed Activities of Daily Living scale, including Barthel ADL (B-ADL) and Instrumental ADL (I-ADL). Demographic factors, memory functions, depressive symptoms and frontal lobe functions were measured in 134 subjects who met the criteria of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or early dementia. Correlations revealed that measures of frontal lobe functions were significant predictors of BADL status, while memory function was not. Based on the results obtained, among MCI and early demented participants, early functional difficulties are associated with frontal lobe function.
