This study is to examine the degree of effects of the development and enforcement of the integrated program to enhance the social adaptation of North Korean defectors’ children (youth) coming to South Korean society. The number of North Korean defectors escaping from North Korea and coming into South Korea has been increasing as years go by. Recently, family groups escaping from North Korea have been increasing, so young people under 20 years old escaping from North Korea have been increasing. However, it is difficult for them to adapt themselves to South Korean society. They give up their studies halfway through or fall to jobless people, causing social problems. So the integrated program for North Korean defectors’ children (youth) to mitigate culture shock and reduce psychological stress and cultivate the ability to cope with adversities of North Korean defectors’ children (youth) should be actively developed. With this study as a momentum, I hope diverse social adaptation integrated programs, which can enhance the sense of self-esteem and heighten the ability to use defense mechanism of North Korean defectors’ children (youth)’ to settle down in South Korean society, should be actively developed and related researches should be actively made.
