This reserch is the analysis of Ponghwangum music. This thesis is studied about Ponghwangum 1.2.3 secorded in Sejongsillok. As an inquiry of Korean traditional music style found in ancient music notes, this study of Ponghwangum is to contemplate the mode of ancient vocal music, especially during focused two times, namelu Koryo and early Choson dynatsy. Ponghwangum was composed with writing a poem to the melody of Choyongga- a piece of Koryogayo - by Yun Hwae in Sejong period, therefore a lot of traces of Choyongga are seen on this work. The main contentss of body are below: Ponghwangum 1. 2. 3 is recorde in Sejongsillok, and then did it again between Ponghwangum recorded in Sejongsillok. and tnat of Taeakhubo. I discussed the hostorical backgound of the work Ponghwangum, which is dealt on a way of laying stress on its transition process, form sinlavia Koryo to Choson dynasty. I accessed the A study of Sejongsillok Ponghwangum foused onits mutual relation with Choyongga and also deeply inquired its musical components. Finally, overall, ‘Ponghwangum’ enevitable aim of this thesis is notonly to recognize the general entity of ‘Ponghwangum’, but to discover its emotinal interconnection standing above the times. Also this ‘Ponghwangum’ produces a new genre of vocal and instrument ensemble.
