The purpose of this study to exam effectiveness of the gradual practice condition, a new form of practice condition involving a gradual increase of the amount of contextual interference during acquisition phase with level of difficulty on distance. Participants(N=30) were male college students who have no experience on golf-putting tasks. They were randomly assigned for blocked, random and gradual practice groups. The task used in this research was golf putting task to the target spot at 500, 600, 700cm on artificial putting matt. On the first day, there were no difference between three groups after analyzing the data collected during pilot tests. The data analysis of acquisition phase were carried out under 3(group)×6(block) and immediately and delayed retention test and 800cm transfer test were carried out under 3(group)×2(block) factorial design with repeated measures on last factor. Firstly, the results indicated that blocked group showed more effective performance than random group in the acquisition phase. Secondly, gradual group more effective than blocked group in immediately and delayed retention and 800cm transfer test and random group in delayed retention test, but there were no difference between random and blocked group. These findings prove that the gradual practice condition was an effective method in golf putting task with level of difficulty on distance.
