The purpose of this study is to open the critical discourse on how Korean
discipline of corporate education(KDCE) has been colonized and universalized
throughout historical development by western discipline of corporate education(WDCE).
To better understand the colonial process of KDCE, the author analyze the
textbooks and journals related to the field of corporate education and HRD in
the view of Said's resistance reading and contrapuntal reading. For the purpose
of deep analysis of academic disfunction resulted from europocentrism, the
decontextual process of implementing DACUM, ISD, CBC, HPT, learning
organization, knowledge management, community of practices, action learning,
which have been adopted as exemplar of corporate educational strategy in the
field of Korean corporate education, are critically discussed in terms of their
philosophical assumptions. The findings from this analysis show that the
sociohistorical particularity and cultural contextuality of the WDCE as regarded
as universality have been overemphaiszed, resulting in deeping colonialness and
losing identity of the KDCE. Final conclusion for establishing viable Korean
discipline of corporate education through the lens of assimilative, reverse, hybrid,
and deconstructive strategy, which is based on the academic postcolonialism and
europocentrism, is proposed for making a core stone of the universal uniqueness
and exploring identity of the KDCE.
