The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between psycho-social health and health promoting lifestyle of preservice child care teachers. The subjects were 281 child care majors at a college. The instruments used for this study were a survey of general characteristics, PWI-SF and health promoting lifestyle profile. The collected data were analyzed by the SPSS(18.0) program using frequency, mean, ANOVA and pearson correlation
coefficient.
The results of this study were as follows.
1. The mean scores of PWI-SF were medium-high level at 22.89±6.09. The mean scores of health promoting lifestyle was 2.70±.82 The highest subfactor health promoting status was interpersonal support(3.24±.78) and the lowest one of health responsibility(1.97±.84).
2. Among the general characteristic variables, aptitude of department(F=6.48, p<.05)showed strong connections to psycho-social health. Among the general characteristic variables, satisfaction of school life(F=14.956,p<.05)and aptitude of department (F=12.217, p<.05)showed strong connections to health promoting lifestyle.
3. The Psycho-social health was negatively correlated with health promoting lifestyle practices(r=-.285, p=.01).
