본 연구의 목적은 심각한 공감 결핍증을 앓고 있는 우리 사회의 문제점을 성찰하고 이에 대한 대안으로 마을 공동체내의 공감 담론의 활용 가능성을 탐색하고자하는데 있다. 방법론적으로는 하버마스(Habermas)의 공론장(public sphere) 이론을 토대로 삼았으며, 부산의 대표적 마을 공동체중의 하나이자 비영리단체인〈문화공감 빈자리〉를 분석대상으로 활용하고자 했다. 이를 통해 우리시대의 진정한 공론장이 되려면 우선적으로 공감장(sympathetic field)의 역할을 수행해야 한다는 점을 강조하고자 했다. 하버마스가 이상적으로 여기는 공론장은 의사소통행위 속에서 형성되는 사회‧문화적 공간이며, 일상 언어가 교환되고 교감되는 소시민적 무대이다. 따라서 공론장에서 필요한 것은 전문적 지식이 아니라 타인을 이해하려는 적극적인 의지와 공감의 정서이다. 하버마스가〈공론장의 구조변동〉과〈의사소통행위 이론〉을 통해 강조하고자 한 ‘타자윤리학’ 개념이나 ‘배려의 공동체’ 개념은〈문화공감 빈자리〉의 지향점과 맞닿아 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 소시민적 공론장인〈문화공감 빈자리〉에서 앎과 삶을 이어주는 키워드는 경쟁이나 논증이 아니라‘공감적 이해’이다. 공감적 이해는 상처 입은 자들의 이야기에 감응해줄 수 있는 가장 이상적인 방식이다. 상실감을 느끼는 이들에게 인간다운 삶을 되돌려줄 수 있는 이 이해의 메커니즘이 가장 잘 작동하는 터전은 바로 친밀의 공동체이다. 하버마스의 공론장 이론을 토대로 지역 커뮤니티 활동을 분석한 결과 공감정서가 커뮤니티 활성화에 매우 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤음을 확인 할 수 있었다.
The purpose of this study is to reflect on the problems in our society, which suffers from severe lack of empathy, and to explore the possibility of utilizing the discussion of compassion within the community as an alternative. It was based on Habermas theory of publicness in the methodology, and was based on Busan s representative village community〈Binjary, Busan Empathy Artculture network〉as a non-profit-service organization This research was intended to confirm that the role of an sympathetic field should be performed first in order to become a true public field of our time. The key concept that Habermas wanted to emphasize through〈The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere〉and〈Thery of Communicative Action〉could be met with the concept of〈Binjary〉. The keyword of〈Binjary〉that connects knowledge and life is empathetic understanding, not competition or argument. Sympathetic understanding is the ideal way to respond to the stories of the wounded. This mechanism of understanding, which can give human-life back to those who feel lost, is the very home of friendly communities. The study identified the following facts :〈Binjary〉looked at the lives of local people based on intimacy and was a representative village community of Busan that can actively lead the culture of making a neighbor cousin.
