우리나라에서는 여성 개인의 진로발달궤적이 가족 생애주기와 맞물리면서 일하지 못하게 되는 경우를 통칭하여 경력단절이라 부르고 있다. 본 연구에서는, 경력단절을 경험한 여성들이 다시 일터로 나가고 싶게끔 하는 요인이 무엇인지를 알아보고자 하였다. 재취업욕구는 일 동기, 자아실현욕구, 구직행동으로 나누어 살펴보았고, 영향요인으로는 개인심리적 변인, 가족변인, 인구학적 변인을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 현재 경력단절을 경험하고 있는 여성 181명을 대상으로 연구한 결과, 종속변인에 따라 경력단절여성의 재취업욕구에 미치는 영향요인이 약간씩 다른 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 연구대상자들 간에 일과 가족에 부여하는 중요도에 따라 세 가지 유형으로 분류되고 각 유형에 따라 재취업욕구에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과가 갖는 함의점에 대해 이론적 실천적 관점에서 논의하였다.
Many South Korean women experience a disruption in their career development when it intersects with their family life course. However, many are motivated to return to work after some time. The current study examines factors that are associated with career-disrupted women’s re-employment motivation. We used work motivation, need for self-realization, and job search behavior as outcome variables and we examined psychological, family, and demographic variables as predictors. A sample of 181 women, whose average age was 34.4 years and who identified themselves as career-disrupted, were chosen for the study. We collected information from self-reports and applied regression analysis. The results revealed that self-efficacy beliefs, perceived barriers, economic need, and work importance were major predictors. Also, three groups emerged from the cluster analysis in terms of one’s work and family importance, and there were differences in re-employment motivation by group membership. We discussed some theoretical and practical implications based on our study findings.
