본 연구에서는 초등학생의 어휘 및 읽기이해 능력을 분석하고자 잠재계층모형을 활용하여 집단별 특성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울과 대구 두 지역에서 편의표집으로 초등학교 6학년 학생 524명을 선정하였으며, 표준화된 기초학습기능 어휘 검사와 읽기이해력 검사를 사용하여 잠재계층 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 어휘 검사와 읽기이해력 검사 모두 상위 집단과 하위 집단인 2개의 집단으로 구분할 수 있었다. 상위집단이 과반수로 대다수를 차지하였으며, 집단 간 하위 구인의 점수는 모두 유의미하게 차이가 있었다. 연구 결과 교육과정중심측정의 원리에 근거한 검사도구를 활용하여 어휘와 읽기이해에 어려움이 있는 학생들의 수를 잠재계층분석을 통하여 확인할 수 있었으며, 각 집단이 보이는 특징과 이들에게 제공할 교육적 중재에 대하여 논의와 시사점을 제시하였다.
The purpose of the study was to examine the characteristics of vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension of 6th grade in elementary students using basic academic test of vocabulary and reading comprehension. For this purpose, 524 students of 6th grade in elementary school in Daegu and Seoul were participated in this study. Latent Class Analysis(LCA) was used to examine to identify subgroups with respect to students’ ability of vocabulary and reading comprehension. As a result, both students who were taken the vocabulary and the reading comprehension test were classified into two groups. The higher group accounted for more than half of the respondents, while the lower group accounted for less than 10% and as many as 27%. The number of students who have difficulties in reading vocabulary and reading comprehension by using the test tool based on the principle of curriculum-based measurement was verified through analysis of the potential hierarchy. The characteristics of each group and the educational intervention to be provided to them were discussed suggestion and implications.
