The study aims to analyze constructs and continuity of teacher s guides in Independent Living for Individuals with Visual Impairments according to the school levels. The subjects are three teacher s guides for elementary school, middle school, and high school respectively. The researcher analyzed parts(Orientation & Mobility, Daily Living, Social Interaction, Sensory Efficiency, Assistive Technology), units, and section using criteria that consisted of expanding, deepening, reduction, gap, and repetition.
The number of parts and units were the same in all the school levels, but elementary school had the greatest number of chapters. Regarding continuity related to expanding and deepening of contents, no domain had a complete continuity among all the school levels. The average of continuity rate in units was 61% and the continuity rate among units ranged from 29 to 100%.
The results indicate that continuity among all the school levels should be enhanced to ensure that the independent living course leads to the skills improvement of individuals with visual impairments according to their development. In addition, the study suggests that creating teacher s guides for each part rather than school level would be desirable to emphasize characteristics of each part and continuity.
