If students learn and understand music through school music education, the learners should be able to explain the characteristics of the elements composing music and explain their musical experience with musical vocabulary . Learning activities that express and explain music in language are emphasized in musical education as another way of expressing music in addition to activities such as singing, instrumental music, and creation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of music appreciation teaching and learning methods on the improvement of musical vocabulary abilities that distinguish musical elements and concepts. After designing and applying the teaching and learning methods consisting of 3 main activities in 6-time classes for about one month, this study analyzed the effects. As a result of the study, not only the range of musical elements that can be distinguished while listening to music has been expanded, more students have been able to distinguish the musical elements, and this showed meaningful results such as expressing their emotions with using musical vocabulary. The most effective teaching method was listening and understanding teachers explanation using musical vocabulary . For students who have once learned music, it is also effective to write distinctive musical elements and concepts.
