본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 부모애착이 우울에 미치는 직접적인 영향과 자아정체성 처리 유형과 관여를 통한 간접적인 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 연구대상은 고등학교 2, 3학년에 재학 중인 294명이며, 자기보고식의 설문지를 통하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구문제를 살펴보기 위하여 경로분석을 실시하였고, 간접효과의 유의성은 부트스트래핑 방법을 사용하여 검증하였다. 주요 결과를 요약하면 첫째, 어머니에 대한 애착이 우울에 미치는 영향은 유의하였지만, 아버지에 대한 애착은 우울에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 아버지에 대한 애착과 어머니에 대한 애착 모두 자아정체성 처리 유형 중 정보지향과 자아정체성 관여를 통해 우울에 간접적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 어머니에 대한 애착은 혼미-회피지향과 자아정체성 관여를 통해 우울에 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 결과를 통해 청소년기 아버지와 어머니에 대한 애착이 자아정체성과 우울에 각기 다른 경로로 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인하였다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the direct effects of adolescents’ parental attachment on depression and the related indirect effects through identity processing style and commitment. A total of 294 2nd and 3rd graders of high school students responded to a self-report questionnaire. The results are as follows. First, adolescents’ attachment to mothers had a direct effect on depression. In contrast, paternal attachment did not have a direct effect on depression. Second, adolescents’ attachment to both fathers and mothers indirectly influenced depression through their effects on information-oriented processing style and commitment. In addition, the effect of adolescents’ maternal attachment on depression was sequentially mediated by diffuse/avoidance-oriented processing style and commitment. Findings from this study suggest that during adolescence, paternal and maternal attachment may play distinct roles on identity and depression through different paths.
