The purpose of this study is to analyze how Havruta discussions of a parent community with their children changed the parents and their relationship with their children and what kinds of effects the parents recognized. The results of this study are as follows: First, the parents intensified their own strategies of questions; they could clarify their questions and were capable of asking more appropriate questions. Second, the metacognitive ability of the parents has improved; the parents came to recognize the information about themselves and were able to clarify what they knew and did not know. Third, the self-expansion of the parents increased; their cognitive and emotional aspects grew as they seemed to compensate for their defects. Fourth, the parents tended to put themselves before their children as they were too immersed in themselves. As for the relationship with their children, first, the parents improved in their abilities of communication and empathy. They were able to understand what their children thought and then to communicate with them more clearly. Second, the parents became role models for their children; they, as good examples, were able to convey their questions and reading skills to their children. Third, because Havruta discussions focused on rather effectiveness than efficiency, this method required a great deal of time, producing difficulties. Based on these results, we in this study suggested the advantages, disadvantages, and needs to complement the Havruta discussions designed on the basis of parent communities.
