This study aims at revealing the characteristics of social studies education in 2017 revised Japanese elementary national curriculum(2017 curriculum) based on perspectives of integration and dispersion. In results, the sixth things have been revealed like below. Firstly, descriptive structure of 2017 curriculum was built on the deeping of concreteness through dispersion of curriculum contents. Secondly, a concept of a zest for life has the meaning of integration and dispersion at the same time in order to connect objectives of school education and specific abilities in diverse subjects. Thirdly, a concept of qualification has dispersed to abilities and values in order to show new tendency of 2017 curriculum. Fourthly, a concept of qualification has dispersed further more in the level of social studies education. Fifthly, ‘problem based learning’, ‘integrated issues of geography, history and civics’, and ‘how to see and think in social studies education’ play an important role to integrate dispersed qualification in 2017 curriculum.
