In this study, we tried to clarify the characteristics of boundary formation and separation-individuation and
discussed the role of parents for the separation-individualization of adolescents. The conclusions drawn from this
study are as follows: First, the separation-individualization of adolescents is formed with clear boundaries between parents and adolescents. In a healthy family structure, the family has individuality, In addition, connection among them is flexible. Separation-individuation well-developed when emotional connection between parent and child is successful.
Second, if parents violate the boundaries of their children, parental over-protection and psychological control on their children may appear. This impedes the formation of psychological independence, self-differentiation and autonomy in children. Recognizing a child s psychological boundaries and taking care of them will have a positive impact on the child.
Third, parents should form clear boundaries with their children to achieve their separation-individuation and
form emotionally good relationships with their children. Parents must have an emotional relationship with their
children, and Parents should not give children psychological control or overprotection.
